My girlfriend of 30+ years is coming up from the Bay Area to Sacramento and our cabin near Lake Tahoe for a four-day visit. As such, and much to your relief, I will be MIA for a few days. No Strong vs Weak Words to haunt you. No “Would you please let up Robin” moments for several days. No screaming at your computer “Put a sock in it girl!”
Pam and I will be busy yakking, sipping vodka tonics on the cabin porch, and taking in the beauty of Lake Tahoe.
Months go by between face-to-face visits, but we pick up the conversation as though no time has passed. Last year I said to her, “You know, not one cross word has been spoken between us in the 30+ years of our friendship.” Not one. Pam said, “I don’t do cross words.” She doesn’t. Pam is the kindest person I know, aside from my husband and kids. She is a true friend.
So, I’ll be back on Thursday. I’ll also be drowning in email notifications of your blog posts. My apologies for not hanging around with you and your blogs.
See you in a few days.

I hope you enjoyed your ‘time off’…
There’s nothing better than a relaxing visit with a close friend.
robincoyle said:
And how to you feel about being back?
Hey, any more word on when your magazine spread is coming out? Will it be available to view on-line?
maggiemyklebust said:
Yes it will be available online, but it won’t be out before Spring! They work at least six months in advance… I did see all the pictures and read the story and I’m very happy… now I wait… thanks for asking.
robincoyle said:
Be sure to blog about it when it comes out please. I can’t wait to see the article!
maggiemyklebust said:
Oh, I will.

I love catching up with old friends! You know I have just one friend that I can think of that is like this. It doesn’t matter how much time has passed between our visits, we always fall back into our old, crazy ways within minutes. That’s so important! Sounds like a lovely break away planned, hope you had a great time!
PS Can you tell this is the start of the deluge! 😉
robincoyle said:
I can indeed tell the deluge began. I love it! I feel like we had a lovely chat over a cup of tea.
With Pam, we say goodbye, close the car door, and drive off. Six month later, I pull up in front of her house, open the car door, and we start the conversation where we left off. How nice you have a friend like that too. I have a feeling if we were to meet in person, the same thing would happen.

Have a great time! I love catching up with old friends 🙂 More pics please
robincoyle said:
We failed miserably in taking photos. Too busy talking!
diannegray said:
Hahaha! That’s great 🙂

Have fun with Pam! I know how much I love my best friend. One great friend is worth more than 10 false friends could ever be worth.
robincoyle said:
So true. I read your comment to Pam and she said, “Awwwwww . . . “
Polly Robinson said:
Hope you’re having a wonderful break 🙂
robincoyle said:
Thanks Polly. It was a lovely break. Now I feel slammed against the blogging wall!
Polly Robinson said:
Ah … ‘catch up syndrome’! heh-heh 🙂

I guess all your blogging friends know where we stand with you! Ha!…………lol
robincoyle said:
Yes . . . I’m afraid a real friend in my presence is harder to ignore than my virtual friends.

Beautiful picture, really nice scenery.
So, William Wallace… ironically I was watching brave heart yesterday.
We’ll be missing you, have fun.
Rebecca Stibrany said:
That’s so freaky – I watched Braveheart yesterday, too.
ahamin said:
That is freaky… 🙂
I started to watch older movies recently because most recent ones get extra cocky with effects, and the story becomes bad. Old ones didn’t have what we have now, they depended on good dialogue and good story.
robincoyle said:
In case you think I am a crazy Brave Heart fan . . . I’m not. William Wallace was named by his former owner. Such a formal name for a silly looking little dog.
Elliot said:
Have a nice break.
robincoyle said:
It was lovely!
Pete Denton said:
Enjoy your break. Time away is ALWAYS good. 🙂
robincoyle said:
Between the editing, reading blogs, and putting together blog posts, I was ready for a break.
Rebecca Stibrany said:
Have a wonderful time!

Can’t beat Lake Tahoe and cocktails with your best friend.
Lori DiNardi said:
This sounds absolutely lovely. Makes me miss my long time friend (30 years) who lives 1200 miles away. Have a wonderful time.
robincoyle said:
Oh, that is sad. Do you get to see her much? Perhaps it is time to schedule a visit!
Lori DiNardi said:
Only get to see her once a year when I go home to see my family. We have a visit scheduled in a couple of months. Hopefully she’ll come here this winter, now that she just got a job with an airline. No one wants to come to FL in the summer. Even I don’t want to be here. 😛
robincoyle said:
How nice you have a visit scheduled. I want to hear all about your time together.
I wondered where you live. For some reason I thought you are in the midwest.
Lori DiNardi said:
Heh, you must’ve heard my Chicago accent through the blogging. 😉 I was born and raised in Chicago suburbs, but moved to FL some 20 plus years ago. I’m sure I’ll be blogging some photos from the trip while I’m there. Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Robin.

Is William Wallace your dog? Well, you win the internets for holding a dog named William Wallace, anyway. 😛 Have fun!
robincoyle said:
Yes . . . William Wallace is our dog. We inherited him when my daughter moved to a place that didn’t allow dogs. He is a nut.

Have a fantastic time! I expect a couple of pictures… 🙂

I will see what we can do to provide a few photos. Won’t be anything like you gave us tho!

Enjoy! I just got back from doing the same thing with my life long friend in Niagara on the Lake. Hope you have lots of laughs.

There will be lots of laughs, a few tears, and mostly a lot of yakking.

Aren’t you the sweetest thing! I will miss you too. Weird to allow yourself to turn the blog thing off for a few days.
maddiecochere said:
Have a wonderful time! I talked about you behind your back today (on my blog), but it was all good. 😉 I’ll be working hard on strong vs weak words while you’re gone!
robincoyle said:
You did? You naughty girl. I shall head over to your blog post haste to see what mean things you said about me. Here all this time I thought we were friends. 🙂
4amWriter said:
Have a wonderful time. We will miss you, and I will grudgingly admit, I will miss your weak words hitting me over the head. *Sigh*
Please have a drink for me, although I would fare better with a Cape Codder. I suppose VTs will have to do. 🙂
robincoyle said:
Ooh . . . What is a Cape Codder? Maybe my new drink?
If you join us, I can hit you over the head in person! And then, hand you a drink as an apology.
4amWriter said:
A Cape Codder is made with vodka and cranberry juice, decked out with a wedge of lime. I’m from the Cape, so this is a comfort drink for me. 🙂
Although, sometimes I will swap it out for a Seabreeze, which is the above, with grapefruit juice added in. I like that drink when I’m feeling sassy.
robincoyle said:
You sassy-pants thing you! I will have a vodka-cran in your honor.
Madame Weebles said:
I’m sure you’ll have a great time–have a vodka tonic for me!
robincoyle said:
Oh heck. Just come on over. This is turning into a big party! I’ve wanted to meet you all!
Carrie Rubin said:
Have fun! Everyone needs a little blogging break from time to time. 🙂
robincoyle said:
Don’t mean to sound like I’m whining but, I could use one. OK. I whined. So sorry.
Carrie Rubin said:
You don’t need to apologize to me. I’ll be taking a break myself soon. Otherwise, how would we stay fresh? Or pleasant? 😉
robincoyle said:
Where are you going Missy? Can I go too?
Robin Jean Marie said:
How wonderful. Two cute blondes and a bottle of vodka–enjoy!.
robincoyle said:
Sounds like the name for a new ABC sitcom. “Two Blondes and Vodka.” Maybe that should be the title of my next book!
Robin Jean Marie said:
My thoughts, exactly.
annewoodman said:
Sounds blissful! Have a great time. There is nothing like a good friend. ; )
robincoyle said:

Thanks. Rest assured, we will!
on thehomefrontandbeyond said:
have fun, and this is me cheering you with my glass of vodka and tonic with a twist of something – clank or clink depending on the type of glass we have
robincoyle said:
Oh heck. Why don’t you join us so we can do “cheers” in person.
Since it is the cabin, the sound is more clank than clink.
on thehomefrontandbeyond said:
I will be there – need directions though – have trouble getting out of a brown paper bag
robincoyle said:
47 Milestone Tract. Or, I can pick you up in Sacramento. This is going to be a great party!

Have a great visit! The break will rest you up so you can tackle the next round of weak words. 🙂
robincoyle said:
Thanks JM. Be prepared! I will be super-charged after four days away from editing, writing, and blogging. Or . . . exhausted from all the talking instead of writing.
Pam said:
RC, here I come! Bags are packed, car is washed, snacks are at the ready and one more sleep until Tahoe!
