I rarely do two posts in one day. My apologies.
However, I need to ask a question. Do you get comments from “Writing Jobs?” I let Askimet know they are spam, but relentless “Mr. Writing Jobs” often sneaks under the spam-net.
Here is today’s comment, which is much like others I’ve received. I assume the comments slip under the spam radar because they don’t sound like a robot wrote them.
Writing Jobs said, “That was another excellent post today. You make it look so easy. Thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoyed reading it very much. Have a wonderful day!”
I make it look easy, don’t I?
Does “Writing Jobs” follow you too?
My spam is obvious as it is written in bad English, not too nasty, but in my spam box to read before I trash.
Does anyone fall for spam? If spammers are going to spend so much time trying to weasel their way into our blogs, you’d think they would take the time to write spam that might fool us.
Writing Jobs, and many others.
Since I did this post, Writing Jobs has given my the cold shoulder. Hmmmm . . . maybe he doesn’t like my writing anymore.
I’ve gotten a few, but more in e-mails.
What are you going to do… I try to just ignore it.
I wonder how many people fall for their malarky?
I’ve wondered that too. Do people respond/click on spam!?!
They’re annoying as hell…
Seriously annoying.
Hi Robin,
Yes I also got Mr Writer Jobs today — I’m sure it’s a spam. It wrote and behaved like one. Hope your complaints are dealt with so that we are free from his spams.
Whoa Janet . . . how did I miss your comment? Sorry about that!
Mr. Writer Jobs hasn’t visited since I did this post. I take that as a good sign!
I get those spammers too. Excellent Post, I also like the great comments you engendered by asking the question. Unfortunate about the spam, but speaking of it is fun!
I am grateful Writers Jobs is gracious and polite. The other spammers could learn something from them. Yes, great comments here.
Mr Writing Jobs was one of the first bot/people to follow my blog and I see the posts in numerous places. Pesky little critters 🙂
Indeed they are. Nice about it, but pesky.
I haven’t seen him yet.
Buuuuuut…two posts in a day. You are making it look easy.
If you only knew . . .
I just received my first comment from Mr Writing Jobs. I guess that means I’m officially part of the club now.
I wonder if we get membership cards . . .
Yes, I get Writing Jobs e-mails, too. Weird.
At least they are polite and supportive, right?
Yes, they are.
I’ve seen this one, and it may even have “liked” a couple of my posts. Does it use a legitimate WordPress account? I have several businesses that follow me, some of which are probably real. But others could be a sneak-around for flesh-and-blood spammers as opposed to spambots.
If it has established an account with WordPress, the innocuous nature of the comments may enable it to slip past Akismet.
Since I deleted the comment I can’t go back to check. I’ll look next time. I did a quick search and there is a closed forum with a complaint about them. It said they have a blogspot blog with no real content.
At least they are more polite than other spammers!
No. Are you sure it’s spam?
Not your typical spam, but yes . . . spam.
I’m not sure about Writing Jobs, but I’ve occasionally had a couple of comments get through that sound a little spammy, but not convincingly so – they might just say something like “This is a great blog, I’m really glad I found it!” or something like that, which could be genuine and innocent or not. Hard to tell sometimes!
It is hard to tell sometimes. I try to make my comments not sound spammy for that very reason.
all my spam lately has been calling my commenters brain dead, but there have been some other highly inappropriate ones that make me laugh on my post about colour in writing spm bot thought this was the appropriate response… haha! i agree with you!
And this on a book review – this article has changed my life, when i read it and followed it, i was also happy – okay I gave the book 5 out of 5 but I wasnt that wonderful. Of course spambot also tells me that I write crap titles for my posts infact my whole blag was crap from one spambot the first negative review on my blog I have ever recieved -I have not checked in here for some time since I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are good quality so I guess I’ll add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend – spambot is my friend yay but they didnt follow i guess spam bot has its own methods of following hehehhe 😀
As for writing jobs I think he gets through because he clicks the follow button actually in my spam I found a couple of comments that weren’t the ones that do bother me though are a couple of trackbacks so off to check my copyscape
Wow! You have mean spammers. Mine mostly want to sell me Viagra. Mr. Writer Jobs it polite and supportive, so maybe I shouldn’t complain!
I get comments from him now and then. Sometimes I let them through but just edit off the bottom where he says “join us”
He also likes a lot of my posts lol
Xx
Since he likes your posts, he must be a smart man!
Lol, flattery will get you everywhere Robin 😉
Xx
Tee hee.
I don’t think it follows me, but I’ve been seeing it a lot lately, and it always comments the same way on every post. I believe I reported the account, but it’s still running free!
I’m surprised Askimet doesn’t catch him. It does a great job otherwise.
Nope, never get that. Clearly he thinks little of my writing.
If that is the case, he isn’t as smart as I thought.
I got Writer Jobs too! I replied, but still it seemed weird that they’d ask a thirteen-year-old if she wants a job
But they’ve left me alone since! 🙂

Child labor ring perhaps?
Haha…apparently….
Yes, I have him, among others !
The first time I thought, “Whoa, cool,” but didn’t respond. Something fishy, right?
I’ve got a spam commenter who goes: I really enjoyed your post today. However, looking at your site statistics, I noticed you could benefit from (insert product here) to improve your web presence blah blah blah. But my spam filter catches these so it’s all good.
Caught in your spam filter, right? Writer’s Jobs makes it through to the “real” comments.
No, I don’t get that. Even my spam is down this summer!
Lucky you! My spam is down too, but the evil people at “Writer’s Jobs” sneaks through.
oh heavens, I can’t begin to tell you all the viagra and cialis spam I get. I also get car dealerships, a dog groomer that really is a head shop, and other people that sound like they live in Taiwan. Yes, my spam is funny to read. Sometimes, however, a real person’s comments will end up there so I have to look carefully before I delete all.
Dog groomer head shop?!? I haven’t had that, but how amusing.
Because my spam folder is usually empty, I can read all of the spam before I delete too.
What do they hope to accomplish?
Akismet usually gets them but I’ve had the odd one slip through that I send to the trash 🙂 The Spam folder makes an interesting read… the other side 🙂
It is amazing how many spammers think my husband needs Viagra. Quite a blow to his ego.
They follow me at least twice a month. I delete every comment and ignore it completely. I smell a spambot.
Weird that Askimet hasn’t shut him down, right?
He probably switches e-mail or account information frequently to dodge Askimet.
Oh . . . good point. Since I am not sneaky, that stuff doesn’t occur to me.
He does, the little shit. You’d think he’d get the point, but NOOOOOO.
I’ve put him in SPAM a couple of times, and I don’t know how he avoids that. We should comment-bomb him!
Funny. He is a sneaky bugger. I wonder what would happen if I said, “Yes! I’d love to join you in your “Spamalot!”
I’d love to see his reaction. I am seriously considering the comment-bomb; maybe that will shut him up for awhile!
Go for it! And then blog about it! As I’ve said before, I love it when you are fired up!
I will!
Yes, I do, quite a few of them. American airlines took over for a time, and then there was the guy who was convinced his cousin wrote my blog, but writing jobs is prolific and a stayer.
The airline was caught in my spam folder, but Writer’s Jobs makes it through. Weird.
Robin,
Your second post today was another excellent post. You make it look so easy to write about spam. Thanks so much for sharing and having our best interests at heart. I really enjoyed reading it very much, as always. Sleep well!
Le Clown
So YOU are the man behind “Writer’s Jobs!” Ah ha! Mystery solved.
Robin,
I am also your long lost uncle who has “17,000,000 for you if you send me your bank account number, and your credit card numbers. I also provide real Rolex and Viagra.
Le Clown
Fantastic. My bank account number is #$#@%$$^^*. I’ll wait for you to transfer the funds before I place my order for Viagra
no, the ones that follow me are quite mean, and call my commenters brain dead
You calllin’ me “brain dead?” Well, I never!
Oh, I guess you mean the spammers think I am brain dead. Speaking of which, what do they hope to accomplish?
I don’t know – I also get some people trying to entice me to go to their sex blogs and others who criticize my content and the fact that I did not give my 200 word posts a title — I told you–I have mean spammers
Oh gosh! I guess I am lucky in that I get spam for Viagra, Search Engine Optimization, and credit card debt.
better than mine, though not much – though I do think I have had the first two
