Oh. Em. Gee. I opened my mailbox today. And then what happened, you ask? To steal a favorite line from Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, “ Well, in Whoville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.”
My mailbox was filled with your letters for Amanda and her fellow soldiers, and my heart about burst with thanks. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The bundle is shipping off to South Carolina tomorrow.
If you want to send the soldiers an email via me, there is still time! My email address is robincoyle@gmail.com.
I love you guys!

I have been away, and busy but kept any eye on these posts in particular – it’s a wonderful thing, you, Amanda & your team of commenters are doing. Tangible support from real, caring people to real, caring people who in order to follow their beliefs are making a huge commitment of their time and lives. Congratulations and best wishes to you all 🙂

The support is uplifting, and I love that you kept an eye on my blog for posts. That warms my heart! Thanks Ella Dee!

That is awesome, Robin! I am glad to read there is so much support! I would like to write a letter. I will try to write one this weekend. This is the first week of school.
robincoyle said:
Good luck with your first week of school! That is a busy time, so don’t worry about writing. You have your hands full!

Oh, thats so nice of everybody… and me, the American-expatriate, didn’t send one. I guess I was away and that post got lost in a sea of unread e-mails, I read it to late. Sorry Robin. 😦
robincoyle said:
Amanda will read your kind words and feel your support via your comments on her letters!

That’s really awesome! I’m sorry I was not able to get a letter in– I just couldn’t make it happen this past week.
robincoyle said:
Not to worry! Life is busy. Amanda will see your support here, which is lovely.

Mine’s there, yay! I’m now realising that my attempts to make the envelope look more interesting were just silly! Hope you opened the envelopes first to get what was for you (only a letter in my case, but still, lol!). I’m sure Amanda and her mates will be thrilled to receive their fan mail! 🙂
robincoyle said:
I’m so glad you said something about there being a letter for me because I didn’t open the envelopes. Thank you so much for the letter for Amanda, one for her fellow soldiers, and one for me! How delightful you are! We are pen pals now, as well as blog-pals!

Well if you are making chicken dinner I am coming over! Although I did not get a letter to them my heart is with them! If you think they might like it you can print chapters of my dad’s story and send them. I am not sure they would enjoy it though.
robincoyle said:
Great! Dinner is at 6:00 tonight. Come on over!
Excellent idea about printing out some of your dad’s letters. I will do that.

Blogging influence at its best! I notice that the letters have stamps from different countries — so nice of everybody to make an effort.

The blogging community is wonderful. That was the nicest surprise for me when I started my blog. Everyone is so positive, enthusiastic, and supportive. Amanda will feel that when she reads the comments here.
Jenny said:
yay! I’m so glad they got there in time to send out. Wish I could have sent more.

You are lovely. They will be tickled with your bookmark. I know I am!

I’m still catching up on everything from vacation and will have to miss this round of best wishes to Amanda’s platoon. But if they read these comments, I’d like them to know how much we admire their courage and dedication!
robincoyle said:
Catching up on blogs after vacation is impossible! I am still buried. I don’t know about members of her platoon reading this blog, but Amanda will, so she will see your kind words.

I’ve been out all day. I was so happy to come home this evening and see you have letters! Thank you, Robin, for making this possible and so easy to contribute. 🙂

How very cool! (do you hear lingering sounds of happy feet dancing to one of those old musicals?)
sort of renews your faith in people
Thanks to you and Amanda
robincoyle said:
I do! But the happy sounds aren’t coming from an old musical. They are coming from my happy feet!

I’ll tell you what, this fills up my heart with joy. It’s so heart-warming to learn that people do still care out there. Blessings to everyone.
robincoyle said:
The response is heartwarming, especially in the day and age “look the other way” and communication via electronic devises. A real letter is a treasure. I agree . . . blessings to everyone.

Just hope my sense of humour won’t get my letter censored too badly lol hope you liked your drawing at some point I will do you a better one as that was a quick scribble I know it looked better in the pictures lol
robincoyle said:
I LOVE the drawing! I can’t believe I forgot to say so. I was so wrapped up in the stack of mail, I forgot my manners.
I think the Army will enjoy your sense of humor. Johnny Depp would too.

I feel the same way. I want to adopt all of them and make them a nice fried chicken dinner.
