Remember the grand and glorious time we had at my virtual cocktail party? No? Oh, that is right. You had too much boom-boom punch as passed out in the shrubbery.
The charming LouAnn over at On the Homefront and Beyond stole copied loved my virtual cocktail party idea and forced begged invited me to co-host a virtual Christmas gathering with her. As such . . .
You are all invited to a Virtual Christmas Party at
On The Homefront and Beyond’s pad!
Date: December 15th
Where: Virtually Here
Why: It Is Christmas!
Theme: Come as your favourite author or character in a book.
Co-hosts: LouAnn and Robin
Bring: Your favourite appetizer from the 1970′s.
Music Provided by: Rodents and Rebels (LouAnn’s son’s rock and roll band).
Special Entertainment: Margaret Atwood. She promises to be festive!
Headliner: Vanessa Chapman will be singing a song chosen just for the party.
Requirement: Description of your favourite author or character’s outfit, your 1970’s appetizer recipe, and favourite song request.
Lou Ann (you probably remember her as the gal with the lampshade on her head at my virtual cocktail party) and I have put our heads together to create some other fun activities to make this party rock—so choose one or two (or as many as you want) and be prepared to comment on them or provide a pic on party night:
1. Provide a photo of an ugly Christmas sweater or if you are up to the challenge– provide a photo of a beautiful Christmas sweater.
7. Tell us about a Christmas tradition you want eradicated from this flat earth.
This is punishment from being so behind in emails…
I know the feeling, John. GAWD, I know the feeling. Im buried in emails!
Stay tuned tho. We canceled the party in light of Sandy Hook. A big party didn’t seem appropriate the day after the shooting. I think we are going to have a “healing” party on New Years Eve.
I might be too late for this party, but I’ll swing by! 🙂
In light of what happened in Connecticut, we canceled the party. Seemed like the right thing to do.

Good idea! Fabulous, actually. I will have to see how tomorrow goes, but great!
Scott
Try to stop by . . . it is going to be a rockin’ around the Christmas tree good time!
Excellent, this gives me time to look through my virtual costume cupboard, and find that 70’s party food book I’ve been saving for a special occasion…
You will be a vision in polyester bell-bottoms, I’m sure.
This is awesomeness! I’m glad I’ve not missed this one like I did the last! 😦 But I am having a real get together at mine on the 15th so I’ll need to mingle between the two! I wonder how early the posts can go up? Is Vanessa really singing? I hope so! 🙂
Feel free to join the party whenever you can. I have a feeling it will be going on for days. And yes, Vanessa promised to sing. Can’t wait for that!
Woop, woop! Looking forward to it! 🙂
missed it last time because I was rearranging virtual furniture! hope to make it this time, unless i’m washing my virtual hair or something lame like that.
We’ll have a virtual drink waiting for you.
I missed the last one, so I’ll make an effort to attend.
Please do!
I’ll be partying already that night, but you’ll be on my mind! 😉
You can stop by the next day if you like. I’m sure we will still be reveling.
Sounds like fun!
Bring your party hat!
😎
YEA! Was just getting ready to check on the party date…
I’m sure a good time will be had by all. I’m happy LouAnn’s house will be trashed, not mine.
Count me in. I will definitely stop by. I had such a great time at the cocktail party. But I’ll have to think hard about an appetizer from the 1970s. Hmmm….
*puts on thinking cap and retires to corner for some heavy-duty thinking*
Heavy duty “thinking,” or more like it “drinking?”
Thinking, but I’ll probably be swilling my trademark Diet Pepsi at the same time.
Oh come on. I am pouring Bloody Marys right now. Okay, fine. Stick to your Diet Pepsi. You can chaperone the party. We need one or two hundred.
100-200 party attendees? Or 100-200 chaperones? 😉
Both.
Well, I typed out a response and my computer froze when I clicked ‘post comment.’ It disappeared, so I’m trying again. I SAID … I thought “be there or be square” was on the cliché “Do Not Use” list. 😉 I hope I can make the virtual party. If I do, I think I will come as a character from the novel I just finished last month. She looks like me, only taller, prettier and younger. Thanks for the invite, Lou Anne & Robin.
I hate it when comment replies disappear. I’ve had that happen a lot recently.
So what was the novel you just finished? Can’t imagine anyone prettier than you!
Hee, hee, like your answer. Oh, the novel I’m referring to is the one I just wrote. I probably should’ve made that more clear. You know, the one I finished in November and shouted from the rooftops about on my blog? Two main characters and one is based on me (but written as fiction since she is taller, younger & prettier). My favorite author, however, is this blogger who gives writing tips on strong & weak words.
Gosh, what blogger are you talking about? I’d love to meet her. I bet she is taller, younger, and prettier than me!
Do re me fa so la ti do! (That’s me warming up for my song).
And how clear and lovely your voice sounds. This is gonna be good! I have your concert posters and tee-shirts printed up.
We will be in DC for the holiday market, dinner, and a Christmas concert on the 15th. But I’ll be thinking of your party while we’re at it!
You can stop by after the party and see the havoc we will have created.
Oh, it would have to be this Saturday wouldn’t it! *pouts* It’s hubbies birthday and I’m taking him out for dinner and staying out overnight 😦
Will try to pop in, depending on the time difference.
If I don’t make it, behave yourselves ladies, in my absence 😉
Xx
You can come on over to the party anytime. I have a feeling it will be going on well into Sunday. I’m planning on sleeping over.
Happy birthday to your husband!
Awwwww, thanks honey 🙂
Yeah, I should really show him SOME attention, he doesn’t get too much normally lol
Xx
I’m afraid I have a previous engagement, but if anyone shows up dressed as Offred, I totally wanna see those pics. Have fun!
come anyway–the party is ongoing
I agree with LouAnn. Come on over. The party might go on for days!
I’ll be there with bells on!
Another one of my mom’s favorite sayings! And how festive you will look with bells tinkling on your toes.
I have this amazing party piece which involves ping pong balls and jazz hands but on second thoughts you may not invite me again!
Now that I have to see. My imagination is running wild . . . ping pong balls and jazz hands? With that, you have a standing invitation to every party!
Sounds like a swinging idea! I’ll be there!
Swinging from the chandelier most likely.
Can I come if I promise not to try dancing on the tables?
please –dance on the tables!
You can only come if you promise TO dance on the tables. Mind your back tho.
Robin–this is going to be a hoot–have to make up the guest bedroom-shoot, I don’t have one–well the couch is comfy and you probably won’t care as long as it is soft and I have plenty of tylenol or aspirin (your choice) and we will have bloody marys in the morning for anyone who stayed
Hair of the dog, right? I love a Bloody Mary. Extra spicy please.
You can pile me in a corner and I’ll be fine.
extra spicy it will be and none of those healthy things like celery to mess with it (unless you like celery)
I like lots of produce in my Bloody Mary. Celery, olives, cocktail onions, pickled green beans, etc. How else am I going to get my daily allotment of vegetables?
that makes a lot of sense–okay to the produce market I will go
Don’t worry about buying organic. How else am I going to get my daily dose of chemicals?
my market has a big organic produce section–but if you want a few chemicals I will stay away from them–I have heard that organic is a scam anyway (lol)
